How to Generate Random Groups
The default path needs only a roster and a target. Rules and presentation options stay available when the situation calls for them.

Use Constraints Without Hiding the Human Decision
Randomness is useful for reducing visible favoritism, but a roster does not describe every accessibility, safeguarding, language, skill, or attendance need. Use keep-apart and keep-together rules for the constraints you know, then treat the generated groups as a draft to review.

Can I choose the number of groups or the group size?
Yes. Choose Number of Groups when the room has a fixed number of tables or teams. Choose People Per Group for pairs, trios, lab groups, or any target team size.
How are uneven group sizes handled?
The shuffled list is distributed across groups so the sizes stay as even as possible. When the total does not divide exactly, some groups receive one extra person.
How do keep-apart rules work?
Add two names to a keep-apart rule when they should not share a group. The generator tries multiple randomized arrangements and reports whether all entered rules were satisfied. Review the final result before using it.
Can I keep two people in the same group?
Yes. A keep-together rule treats the entered names as a pair during grouping when the requested group size allows it. Conflicting or impossible rules may require a different group count or size.
Can I show the groups on a classroom projector?
Yes. Projector View displays the generated teams in a high-contrast full-screen layout. You can also copy the groups as plain text or a Markdown table.
Are student or participant names uploaded?
No account or upload is required. Grouping is performed in the current browser session, so review your device and screen-sharing practices when working with sensitive names.
