A Random Name Picker for Repeated Turns

This name picker is designed for the moment between asking a question and needing a person. Paste the list once, pick one or several names, and keep no-repeat mode on when every participant should have a turn before anyone returns to the pool.

Fair rotation

Picked names can leave the pool until reset, making participation easier to track across a lesson or meeting.

Visible result

The spotlight and projector display keep the selected name readable on laptops, tablets, and shared screens.

How to Use the Random Name Picker

The default settings pick one person and remove that name from the next round. Change only the controls that matter for the activity.

  1. Add the names.Paste one name per line, load a sample, or create a numbered list from 1 to 30.
  2. Choose the count.Keep one for a single speaker, or select up to 10 names for partners, captains, or volunteers.
  3. Pick a name.Use the main button, Space, or Enter and let the result finish before starting another pick.
  4. Continue the round.Review the remaining pool and history, then reset when everyone is eligible again.

Classroom, Meeting, and Game Uses

A random name picker works best when selection should be neutral and every listed person is genuinely eligible. Explain whether names will be removed after a pick so the group understands the rule before the first result.

Class participation

Choose a reader, respondent, discussion leader, helper, or student to demonstrate a solution.

Meeting turns

Set presentation order, choose the next update, or rotate a facilitator without relying on volunteers.

Games and activities

Pick a player, team captain, prompt reader, challenge participant, or the person who starts.

Several selections

Increase Pick at Once when the activity needs a pair or a small subset instead of one name.

Random Name Picker FAQ

How do I pick a random name from a list?

Paste or type one name per line, choose how many names to pick, and select Pick a Name. You can also use Space or Enter when the page is not focused inside a form control.

Can the name picker avoid repeats?

Yes. Remove picked name is enabled by default. Each selected name leaves the active pool until you reset it, so everyone can receive one turn before the list repeats.

Can I pick more than one name at a time?

Yes. Set Pick at Once from 1 to 10. A single draw does not repeat the same list position, making it useful for partners, captains, presenters, or several volunteers.

Does the random name picker work on a classroom projector?

Yes. Projector Mode gives the selected name a large, distraction-free display. Space and Enter can trigger the next pick, and Escape closes the full-screen overlay.

What is the difference between this and the winner picker?

Use this page for repeated classroom, meeting, or game selections with no-repeat rounds and pick history. Use the Random Winner Picker when a giveaway needs alternates and a saved draw record.

Are names saved or uploaded?

Names are processed in the current browser session and no account is required. This tool does not add a saved roster, so keep your source list elsewhere if you will need it again.
